Dr. Javier Urquiola is a prosthodontist and has been practicing prosthodontics since 1996.
A prosthodontist is a dentist who:
Specializes in the aesthetic restoration and replacement of teeth,
Receives two or three years of additional training after dental school, and
Restores optimum appearance and function to your smile.
Dr. Urquiola received his undergraduate education at Columbia University. After college, he entered New York University College of Dentistry and Graduated in 1991. He then continued his dental education in a one year general practice residency in Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Urquiola received his prosthodontic training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He then further sub-specialized in maxillofacial prosthetics in a combined Bronx VA – Columbia University residency program. After completing his post-graduate studies, Dr. Urquiola joined the faculty of Columbia University College of Dental Medicine as a full time assistant Professor.
While still in his post-graduate program Dr. Urquiola published several articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and Quintessence both peer reviewed academic journals. Currently, Dr. Urquiola is on the board of reviewers for the Journal of Prosthodontics, the official journal of the American College of Prosthodontists, which promotes the advanced study and practice of prosthodontics, implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. Dr. Urquiola joined this office in 2003. Dr. Urquiola is fluent in Spanish.
